SharkNinja Proudly Supports the Massachusetts Science & Engineering Fair

Our mission at SharkNinja is to positively impact people’s lives every day. We do this by striving to be Outrageously Extraordinary in everything we do, whether that’s creating innovative products for our consumers or giving back to our local communities.

That’s why this month, SharkNinja supported the 76th High School Massachusetts Science & Engineering Fair (MSEF). This annual event is a day packed with innovation, connection, and celebrating the technological achievements of high school students across Massachusetts. More than 300 student researchers participated and STEM professionals, including our very own SharkNinja team members, volunteered as judges.

Outrageously Extraordinary in action

Visionary thinking, continuous iteration, and thoughtful collaboration to bring an innovative idea to life is what striving for the Outrageously Extraordinary is all about. And it’s the mindset that was embraced by Ethan Okeke of Athol High School as he turned his long-held idea into a science fair-worthy achievement and was honored with the SharkNinja G.R.I.T. Award. This honor, which stands for Guts, Resilience, Initiative, and Tenacity, acknowledges a student who showed exceptional perseverance and passion—all traits exemplified by Ethan.

Ethan’s project, Extraction Hive, was an innovative and forward-thinking concept. It was brought to life through his school’s engineering capstone course, where he developed a system to separate and concentrate gases to enhance crop production.

SharkNinja team positively impacting lives

Our team spent the day supporting MSEF and judging innovative projects from high schoolers across the state.

“Not every student has access to professionals in their fields of interest,” shared Dan Der Marderosian, Vice President, Shark R&D, Floor Care & Home Environment. “To connect with somebody whose background is in engineering or in STEM sciences is a unique opportunity.”

Fostering upcoming tech talent and championing the next generation of STEM innovators is important to SharkNinja. We’re proud to partner with MSEF on this initiative and the work they do year-round to provide critical resources to students and educators across Massachusetts.

In addition to our work with MSEF, SharkNinja is actively growing its STEM outreach through ongoing collaborations with local schools and community groups. Recent initiatives include a “Food Science in Action” program with The Possible Zone and the Chica Project, introducing students to food science, and sponsoring the National Society of Black Engineers’ Boston Professionals 2025 Inspire STEM Gala, where we awarded scholarships to three local engineering college students.
