From unlocking breakthrough performance on Shark Floorcare to mastering complex refrigeration systems for Ninja, Jennifer’s determination turns challenges into innovation.
Meet Jennifer!
Meet Jennifer Andrews: a Mechanical Engineer II who brings bold ideas to life on the Ninja Motorized/Treats R&D Team. Over her three years at SharkNinja, Jennifer has contributed to next-generation solutions for both the Shark Floorcare and Ninja Treat/Motorized teams. A Massachusetts native and UMass Amherst Mechanical Engineering alum, she’s passionate about turning innovation into extraordinary products consumers love.
“When I have a wild idea, I’m not only encouraged to pursue it, but I’m also given the time, space, and support to dig in and see where it leads.”
“I believe that real innovation doesn’t just come from solving problems; it comes from helping others understand the problem so we can align faster, make better decisions, and move forward as a team.”
“When you’re passionate, excellence doesn’t feel like a reach. It feels like the natural result of loving what you do.”
Outrageously Extraordinary in Action
When Jennifer was tasked with achieving debris pickup performance, no product like it had ever reached; the challenge seemed impossible. With no examples to follow and months of testing behind her, many would have lowered the bar. But Jennifer didn’t flinch. She dug deeper, studying material behavior and running countless experiments until she unlocked the breakthrough her team needed.
That relentless mindset defines her work as a Mechanical Engineer at SharkNinja. Jennifer has faced ambitious goals that push the boundaries of what’s been done before. Currently, she’s helping develop a product designed to outperform competitors three times the size and price. At first, the team worried the goals might be too ambitious. But within a week, Jennifer built proof of concept and proved the targets were within reach.
She didn’t stop there. When her team encountered the steep challenge of managing new refrigeration systems safely and efficiently, Jennifer took it upon herself to master the learning curve. She researched technology, learned how to manage refrigerant safety, and has led development for this system, saving the team critical time and keeping innovation on track.
Hear from Jennifer
What does it mean to be Outrageously Extraordinary (OE)?
To me, being Outrageously Extraordinary means showing up with passion every single day. It’s about caring deeply about the work we do and bringing energy, curiosity, and a drive to make things better. It also means lifting others up and creating an environment where that energy is contagious. When you’re passionate, excellence doesn’t feel like a reach. It feels like the natural result of loving what you do.
True Edge is described as “a key principle of the OE mindset, combining vigilance, innovative insight, and strategic solutions to create a competitive advantage that is exceptionally hard to replicate.”
What’s your True Edge, or what are you working to build?
My True Edge comes from my ability to communicate complex technical issues by breaking them down into digestible explanations. Whether I’m working with cross-functional teams or new team members, I pride myself on making challenging topics approachable and understandable. I believe that real innovation doesn’t just come from solving problems; it comes from helping others understand the problem so we can align faster, make better decisions, and move forward as a team.
Can you share examples of how you live OE?
I live Outrageously Extraordinary by jumping in, even when I don’t have all the answers yet. I don’t wait until I fully understand every detail before getting started on a project because I believe some of the best learning happens through doing. I’ve learned to be comfortable stepping into the unknown, asking questions, making mistakes, and figuring things out as I go.
What makes working at SharkNinja special?
At SharkNinja, the answer is never “no.” Instead, it’s “what would it take to make it happen?” That mindset creates an environment where I feel empowered to take risks, think creatively, and push boundaries. When I have a wild idea, I’m not only encouraged to pursue it, but I’m also given the time, space, and support to dig in and see where it leads. That kind of trust and freedom is what drives real innovation and makes this a place where I feel inspired.
Please join us in congratulating Jennifer for being this week’s True Edge Tuesday!
